Main Task: Statement of intent

My TV adverts for a new horror TV channel called "Horror Central TV" will aim to create a brand identity that is appealing to a teenage audience. I will do this by having high tension through all 4 of my adverts. My adverts will be based around someone being chased through all different places, such as ; the woods, a park, a field and any other remote places. I will also be kidnapped by the "villain", and be taken hostage and be waterboarded. The first advert will begin with a nice establishing shot of the scenery and then there will be a fast sharp cut to me running as fast as I can. The effect of going back and forth with the 2 opposite shots (calm scenery and panicking running) is people will be drawn in as they will want to know whats going on. My characters will include me as the person running and a friend as the "villain". I will be represented as a vulnerable teen casually walking, whereas the "villain" will be a stereotypical villain. I will aim to use media language in a way that includes intertextual references to other horror films, but in a comedic way. I will aim to create some of the media language conventions of the genre such as high tension moments, close ups, loud noises, dark/spooky settings. Some of the conventions of TV advertising that I will use are short takes and fast cuts. The four adverts will work well together to create a coherent brand identity because they are similar adverts all based around the horror genre. My vision will suit the target audience (teens/adults) as I am mixing two popular genres, horror and comedy. I believe these adverts will be effective because of the use of horror and comedy, two of the most popular genres.
